1933 Singer 221 Featherweight | First Production Batch | Showroom Restored
An exceptionally early Singer 221 Featherweight, restored to showroom condition in a deep, mirror-like gloss black finish.
Serial number AD5443** falls within the first batch of 10,000 Featherweights assigned by Singer on October 3, 1933. This is a first-year example from the model’s inaugural production series.
The restoration was completed with close attention to the finish. A final hand-polishing process using 3000-5000-grit abrasives produced a smooth, glass-like surface with crisp reflections and no visible orange peel. The result is a brilliant black finish designed for lasting shine and durability, with a level of polish beyond the appearance of the original factory japanned finish.
This machine also retains the rare rear-side decal near the motor, a detail especially appealing on an early Featherweight. It is accompanied by several hard-to-find period pieces: an original Type I carrying case with its insert, an original Singer 221 manual, and a nickel-silver metal drip tray.
